The book will cover all htmlects of the history of the town from earliest times but mostly in the last century up to the present day.

It will be published as an A4 hardback with a colour photographic section with selected photographs taken from the Town Council's Portrait 2000 Millennium project, a section on the factual historical htmlects of the town and an oral history taken from the reminiscences of the residents of the town along with interesting photographs, maps, drawings and other illustrations.

Councillors Lyn Lindsay and John Tanner have agreed to compile the oral section of the book and would love to hear from residents past and present with any memories or photographs which can be incorporated.

Some of the subjects which could be covered are:-

  • Trade & Industry in the town
  • Inns & Alehouses
  • Areas and properties around the town
  • The Churches
  • Farms and Farming Markets
  • Schools
  • The War Years
  • The Twentieth Century -
    Pictures & Reminiscences
  • Hobbies and Pastimes
  • Local Characters

The aim is for the book to be published by Halsgrove Publishing in 2001 as a celebration of Blandford in the past and a look forwards to the Blandford of the new Millennium.
